Michael Taylor Lee is a journalist who has worked as a reporter, photographer and editor since 2015. His stories and photos have been published in community and daily newspapers in Nova Scotia, Manitoba and Ontario. He is currently a digital producer for CTVNews.ca. Michael lives in Toronto.

After finishing a four-week internship at the Halifax alternative newspaper The Coast in 2015, Michael got work as a summer student for the community weekly LighthouseNOW in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, and was later hired as a full-time reporter. While at LighthouseNOW, Michael became a finalist in three categories at the Newspapers Atlantic 2017 Better Newspaper Competition Awards, including outstanding sports photo, outstanding feature photo and outstanding investigative story. Michael was also a member of the LighthouseNOW team that earned first place finishes in general excellence and community engagement that same year.

Michael moved to Brandon, Manitoba, in October 2017 to join the newsroom at The Brandon Sun. He helped cover the downtown fires of 2018 and in 2019 came in third place for best feature photo at the Manitoba Community Newspapers Association’s Better Newspaper Competition Awards. Michael joined the North Bay Nugget in North Bay, Ontario, in April 2019, where he covered city hall and major flooding in the Town of Mattawa.

Michael holds a bachelor of science from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and a bachelor of journalism from the University of King’s College in Halifax. In 2023, he completed a six-week course in Documentary Photography through the Chang School of Continuing Education at Toronto Metropolitan University.
